Joseph Papin at the Mitchell-Stans Trial 1974

The caption for the drawing below reads: “Mitchell-Stans trial, 1974” and at the bottom, “Joseph Papin, F. Donald Nixon testifying at the conspiracy trial of John Mitchell and Maurice Stans.” It is one of Joseph Papin’s “overhead drawings” that he drew as if he had an overhead vantage place which he did not – he drew this view while sitting and drawing from the ground floor level with all of the other participants in the trial.

The second posted collage of drawings reads: “One of two versions of a Mitchell-Stans collage, drawings and collage by Joseph Papin.”

The third posted photo is the original drawing for the fourth posted photo of the drawing published in the Daily News on April 11, 1974.

The caption reads: “Defendant John N. Mitchell on witness stand as Judge Lee P. Gagliardi presides at trial.”

Amazing drawings – especially the overhead one – his talent was unrivaled I am certain! In addition, his artwork was only part of his contribution – his ethical reflection of true and unfolding events was to be revered! <3

    1. Thank you for your kind words Brenda, his overhead drawings are some of my favorites too.
